Newcastle’s most cosmopolitan suburb has welcomed 2017 China Week.

President of Hamilton Chamber of Commerce Nathan Errington, said that the week of supersized festivities was a great way of crossing countries, continents and cultures.

“Diverse cultures are very much a part of Hamilton. Steeped in history and multicultural ties, Hamilton is a place for people of all backgrounds to live, work and play,” he said.

“This immersive, colourful and vibrant suite of events celebrate contemporary and traditional Chinese culture, food, art and travel in the heart of Hamilton. The Hamilton community is proud to showcase its diversity and continue to thrive through the sharing and appreciation of the cultures we are surrounded by,” Mr Errington said


  • Business Forum  – Friday 13 October 8:30am to 12:30pm, University of Newcastle NewSpace Building on Hunter Street. The forum will discuss China’s Belt and Road Initiative and what this might mean for the Hunter region. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.
  • Night Noodle Market –  Saturday 14 October 4:00 to 9:00pm. Gregson Park will illuminate Hamilton with the colours and aromas of Chinese Cuisine.
  • Cultural Festival  – Sunday 15 October 10:00 to 3:00pm. Gregson Park. Cooking demonstrations, tea ceremonies, karaoke, costume dress ups, pop-up markets, exciting entertainment and most importantly, mouth-watering dining options.
